Fall semester begins August 17th

Fall semester at Calhoun Community College starts on Wednesday, August 17th. The first day of classes is always full of new experiences. If you are new to college, here are some hints to make your first day of classes on campus go smoothly:

  1. Print your schedule because technology can fail. Calhoun has WIFI in campus buildings, but it helps to have your schedule in hand.
  2. Arrive to your classes EARLY! This article, “5 Minutes Early Is On Time; On Time Is Late; Late Is Unacceptable” in Forbes online magazine has some good advice. https://www.forbes.com/sites/brentbeshore/2015/08/02/5-minutes-early-is-on-time-on-time-is-late-late-is-unacceptable/?sh=1001d0121b2a
  3. It is hot outside, and will be hot for a few more months. Bring a light jacket in case you get cold. Did you know that Calhoun has a dress code? It is in the student handbook. College prepares you for the real work world, so dress for making a good impression, while being comfortable.
  4. Snacks are available on campus, but it never hurts to have a water bottle. Calhoun has water refill stations for water bottles.
  5. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The benefit of going to a community college is that the faculty and staff want you to succeed, and they are happy to answer questions.
