Mi Delicioso Guanajuato is a Mexican restaurant located off of Governors Dr. The restaurant has a unique look, and the bars on windows are a sign the food is sure to be good. Chips and salsa are included with the meal. The chips are homemade and the salsa is excellent (I suspect they use caramelized onions). They have tubes of green and red salsa that are also pretty good.
Price
The prices at Guanajuato are on the higher end for Mexican food, especially for the seafood options. You can get a meal for under $10. If you get seafood, you can expect to pay upwards of $25.
Entrees:
Quesabirrias y Consome: The quasabirrias y consome are heavy but have rich meaty flavors. The meat is very tender and has great taste. The cheese adds texture and provides variety from the meat. The tortilla is seasoned and cooked in the fat of the meat, giving it a wonderful flavor and texture. The consome is flavorful and makes the taco very juicy, fully bringing the tacos together.
Tamales: The tamales are some of the best in the area. The massa is moist, tender, and has good flavor. The filling has an option of either red or green sauce. The meat is tender, and the flavors of both sauces are excellent.
Tacos: The tacos are also better than most in the area. Guanajuato offers a large selection of meat which includes Asada, Pollo (grilled chicken), Cabeza (beef head), Barbacoa (birria-style beef), Pastor (marinated pork), Tripa (tripe beef), Chorizo (Mexican sausage), Carnitas (pork), and Chicharron (pork skins). All of the meats I have tried have been both tender and well-seasoned. The chicharron has limited availability. The tacos include a variety of toppings depending on the meat. The grilled onions add a lot of flavor and bring a nice variety to the taco. Overall, these tacos are some of the best in all of Huntsville.
Torre De Mariscos: Torre de mariscos translates to tower of seafood or seafood tower. The presentation is fun, and the quality of the seafood is impressive. The tower includes a variety of seafood that is marinated similarly to ceviche. The flavor is clean and fresh and is not fishy at all.
