Free counseling services are available to all Calhoun students and employees.
Counseling services are offered on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Decatur campus at the Chasten Student Services Center in room 220, and on Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Huntsville campus in the Sparkman Building in room 101.
Here at Calhoun, it is understood that it is okay to not be okay.

“According to the Mayo Clinic, about 44% of college students reported having symptoms of depression and anxiety. 30% of students reported feeling depressed this past year. An increase in depression/depressive symptoms can increase the risk for suicide. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in young adults ages 15-29 and about 700,000 deaths per year are from suicide.”
Many college students suffer from anxiety, depression, and other issues, but they do not get help because they are afraid of being viewed as weak because of the stigma our society has created upon receiving counseling. You will not be judged for any reason in your counseling session, so do not be afraid to reach out. The discussion held in your session will be completely confidential and kept only between you and your counselor.
Please do not hesitate to contact Calhoun’s counseling services if you are in need of any assistance or guidance. If you need services at the Decatur campus, call 256-306-2630 to schedule an appointment, and if you need services at the Huntsville campus, call 256-890-4756 to schedule an appointment.
