Local Restaurant Review: Leafly Boba Bar

Leafly Boba Bar is a tea shop located off Highway 72. Boba tea is a drink that includes small tapioca pearls that fit through the straw. Leafly offers a variety of different teas including fruit tea, milk tea, and matcha tea. In addition, Leafly offers monthly specials. Leafly offers several food selections such as instant ramen and waffle pops (waffles on a popsicle stick). The boba has a nice texture, and the flavor is subtle but quite good.

Price

The prices are on the high end for a beverage. You should expect to pay between $4 for basic teas and $7 for the specialty options.

Tea

Mango Green Tea: The mango green tea is one of the fruit teas. The green tea is great tasting and lacks the bitterness that can be found at other boba shops. The mango adds sweet and tropical flavors making the drink very refreshing. As for basic fruit tea, this drink is one of the best in the area.

Strawberry Matcha Latte: The strawberry matcha latte is perhaps my favorite drink at Leafly. The drink consists of three layers: strawberry puree, milk, and matcha. The strawberry puree has a natural and sweet strawberry flavor and gives the drink a nice fruity flavor. The milk is there to tie the drink together, which it does. The matcha is ceremonial grade which elevates the drink significantly. I order the drink lightly sweetened and the matcha is not bitter and has a great depth of flavor.

Black Sugar Boba Milk Tea: The black sugar boba milk tea is one of the specialty drinks. This drink is a spin on the black sugar milk teas that can be found at most boba shops. The black sugar is very sweet and is something like milk sweetened with brown sugar. There is also a brown sugar sauce that is drizzled into the top of the drink. This drink is a simple idea yet has a lot of flavor.

Vietnamese Coffee: Another one of the specialty drinks is Vietnamese coffee. The Vietnamese coffee has a rich coffee taste that is balanced with sweetened milk to round out the drink. The flavor is bold, not bitter, and is definitely worth a try.
